Where it all started…
My name is Abigail Santos and I am originally from Ciales, Puerto Rico. Since my childhood, I began singing in my church, although I lacked formal training. I always wanted to take classes but there were no singing teachers in my hometown.
Opera singer by accident…
At 19 years old, I decided to dedicate myself to the study of music and started my first singing classes. Originally she wanted to be a music teacher and sing popular music. Which led me to enter the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music where I trained as a lyrical music singer since there were no programs for popular music singers at that time.
I left everything...
Later, I moved to the United States to continue my training in the United States. I did my master's degree in voice at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, but my curiosity about vocal technique led me to pursue a doctorate specializing in vocal pedagogy (the art of teaching singing) where I learned vocal technique from the physiological and anatomical perspective of the instrument vocal not of the musical genre.
I sang all over the world …
For 15 consecutive years, I had the privilege of traveling the world. I have had the honor of singing in prestigious venues such as the Houston Grand Opera, San Diego Opera, Chicago Lyric, the Cincinnati Symphony, the NHK Symphony in Japan, as well as the Puerto Rico Symphony and the Costa Rica National Symphony, among others. others. In parallel, I continued singing popular music as a worship leader at Victory World Church where I congregated.
From Teacher to Youtuber
Since my first steps in training, I have focused my career on teaching. I started as a teacher at the Canzion Institute and have continued to teach classes, both in my private studio and at the university level at Universities such as Emory University and Belmont University. Currently, my main project is Dr. Voice, a character that I have created on my social networks with the purpose of assisting millions of people who want to explore their voices but like me in my beginnings, lack access or resources to study with a singing teacher.
